It’s been a great year for Herefordshire musician, George Barnett: he’s just been added to the Radio 1 playlist and his cover of Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ has been viewed nearly 8m times on Youtube. Now this Saturday he’s set to make an appearance at the Jailhouse, just as he hits the big time.
George is fresh from completing a UK tour that started in Newcastle in September and finished in Cardiff earlier this month before going straight back into the studio.
All of this hard work has definitely paid off. As well as becoming a Youtube sensation, George’s latest single ‘Animal Keeper’ was premiered on American Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s US website, to a sea of critical acclaim.
Saturday’s gig has been organised by local community group Hereford Live, as part of their aim to put Hereford back on the live music map.
“We’re really pleased that George is making a return to Hereford,” said Hereford Live secretary and Jailhouse manager, Anthony Murphy.
“He’s going to be huge, and it’s a great opportunity to catch him in what could quite possibly be one of his last gigs in an intimate venue.
“Many bands have played here before hitting the big time, and now local people have the chance to say they’ve seen George play to a few hundred people before he becomes the next big thing.”
