Supporting ‘ereford United

Blah blah blah Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, yadda yadda yadda. I will never understand this fascination with teams people never watch, live near or have no connection too. I admit I am not perfect. I was a keen ‘fan’ of Aston Villa until my early teens then my balls hit the ground and I stayed loyal solely to Hereford United. Despite the ups and downs I haven’t looked back since.

My first full season of watching Hereford was seeing them get relegated to the Conference in 1997. Of course, we all thought that was temporary…

Fifteen years later and we find the club in a similar situation in some ways, although off the pitch we are in much better shape. I would say the team now is much better than the one from 1997. In new manager Richard O’ Kelly we have a much more positive attacking, passing approach to play. Our attacking options are excellent, particularly Tom Barkhuizen who is very promising. Arquin is inconsistent but has real promise. Admittedly, the defence has looked shaky this season. Although, with our best defensive group, we ain’t bad. However, we’re still down there in danger with 10 games to go.

I honestly think it’ll be tight but we should stay up. Although, Pitman was out of ideas and should have gone earlier. Peters is experienced but the football was ugly. O’Kelly seems the best of both worlds … COME ON YOU WHITES!
