Herefordshire Senior Cup Final

On Saturday 10th July around 800 football fans turned up at New Street, to watch Ledbury Town take on Hereford United in the HFA Senior Cup final. All eyes were on Simon Davey for his first game in charge of the Bulls, and his mainly trialist squad.

The opener came mid-way through the first half with Jamie Sheldon burying the ball in the back of the Ledbury net, following a corner from Sam Gwynne. Despite a passionate performance from Ledbury Town, some great second-half stoppages from their keeper, a goal-line dispute (you thought you’d seen enough this summer), and many missed chances from the Bulls, Hereford ended up lifting the cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory, sealed by Mathieu Manset’s 84th minute goal.

Children under 16 had free admittance, with adults being charged £5 for an entertaining match, great atmosphere, decent catering and an all round good day out. There’s a lot that can be learned from local grass-roots football, and if you’re not following the Bulls away this season get down to your local club and get involved!
