Katie Camplin from the Harriers spoke to Heckler this week. “Wheelchair basketball is very popular and the rules are very similar to that of the able bodied sport. It can be played by people with or without physical disabilities. People of all ages and experience are welcome to join our club.”
The Harriers were established in 2011 and are based at Whitecross School. This fast developing club are planning to field both junior and adult league teams in 2013 and are actively looking for new members.
“We currently have two training sessions at Whitecross School.” Explained Katie. “Saturday sessions are 10 a.m-11a.m and offer you the opportunity to have fun and to learn wheelchair basketball skills. Sessions cost £5 for adults and £3 for children up to the age of 16. These sessions will build you up to the standard of play needed to join the training sessions on Sunday.”
“On Sunday’s from 10-12 we provide a more intense coaching session for a development league team. These sessions cost £5 for adults and children.”
So what are you waiting for, get involved.
Good luck to the Harriers from the Heckler crew. We look forward to following you in the league next year.
